hello ppl.
i had a good day today.
we had eng compo test today and more test are coming up.
tomorow have maths test, friday got science test and geo test. next week got lit test and hist test.
with so many test coming up, i have no time to post. lol...i don have time to post anyway.
today ms cheng ask me and joyce to be PE captain. i dun want to but ms cheng say she see potential in me and Joyce. do you think i shou be a PE cap ? i think i will try for it. having GB as a cca means that camp is coming up soon. and my friend say that PE cap will have camp too. i hate camp but i still have to go. i dun enjoy myself during camp and i feel miserable. i hope that in the future years i will come to like camp better. :)

i had lots of fun today.
today during chapel, there were this bunch of ang mor ppl. they sang like we are sitting in a concert. i think that they are abit mad. one guy jiumped on a chair like a mad person and jumped down.
today had maths test very difficult
cause it is gonna be national day soon (yes!!! got holiday) , the sch held some contest. today's contest was who can yell the longest yum seng yell. very funny. this test hold long we can hold our breath. i think the longest was 22sec. very long sia.

hello !!!
anyway, today is quite a good day for me cause nothing stupid happened. first i had P.E. then HOME ECONS. oh talking about HE, i did not study for my test. oh gosh i am gonna fail. and we cooked fried rice today. hahaha my bro said it was nice and wanted more. ^_^"' my HE teacher kept talking rubbish and during my PE she saw me and my friend walking and she said " run run!" ( i am gonna have my PFT[physical fitness test] soon) I FAILED !!! i cannot run 2.4 km. oh gosh i am gonna fail and retake it again. okay that was just a trail but i still failed. my teacher said that those who fail will go for TAF !!! i do not want that to happen.

this morning when we were singing the national anthem a teacher said that the whole sch must sing again cause we never sing it OUT LOUD . and we sang it again. it was like so stupid cause we sang it twice. yesterday we celebrated RHD . it was fun cause we had this quiz time which involves the whole sch. we like had to call in to our sch's own radio station and answer the question. it was funny cause there lots of prank calls. there are things like the DJ can't hear the ppl talking and the ppl that call in did not know the answer. lol it was funny ............

INTRODUCTION ON PROJECT:
We wanted to find out more about the roots of the mangrove plants and how these roots can help the plants to survive.

CONTENT:
Roots are the part of mangrove trees. They are very important to the trees as they are used to provide support for the trees in unstable soils. When storms come, they also withstand the currents coming into the mangrove area. Some roots are used to take in air for the plants. Their growth is one of the functions of apical meristem located near the tip of the roots. Not only that, they also help the mangrove trees to transport water and nutrients to all parts of the plant. Mangrove roots can be classified into four types ------ aerial roots, prop roots, kneed roots and plank roots. Each type of root has different shape, size and function. Now let’s take a trip to find put more about them and how important they are in the nature.

Aerial roots
Aerial roots are roots that are above ground. In Avicennia species, the pneumatophores are erect side branches of the horizontal roots which grow just below the soil. They are pencil-like and grow up to only 30 cm tall. They are almost always adventitious. They are found in diverse plant species, including epiphytes also known as air plants, which includes the orchids, tropical coastal swamp trees such as mangroves, the resourceful banyan tree, the warm-temperate rainforest rātā and pōhutukawa trees of New Zealand and vines like English ivy and irritating poison ivy. These specialized aerial roots enable plants to breath air in habitats that have waterlogged soil. The roots may grow down from the stem, or up from typical roots. Some botanists classify these as aerating roots rather than aerial roots, if they come up from soil. The surface of these roots are covered with lenticels which take up air into spongy tissue which in turn uses osmotic pathways to spread oxygen throughout the plant as needed. This plant organ that is found in so many diverse plant families has different specializations that suit the plant habitat. In general growth form, they can be technically classed as negatively gravitropic (grows up and away from the ground) or positively gravitropi (grows down toward the ground.)

Kneed roots
Among the Bruguiera species, the horizontal roots growing just below the soil surface periodically, grow vertically upwards then immediately loop downwards to resemble a bent knee. By repetition, a single horizontal root develops a series of knees at regular intervals. The aerial portions (kneed) of these roots help in aeration of the whole root which because it spreads so widely, improves anchorage in the unstable mud. Lumnitzera species also produce inconspicuous, small kneed roots which appear to be intermediate in structure between Avicennia and Sonneratia species. Some trees, such as Bruguiera and Ceriops have "kneed-roots", horizontal roots growing just below the soil surface grow vertically upwards and then immediately loop downwards to resemble a bent knee. Tumu is the most widely distributed of the Rhizophoreae family.The kneed roots of the plant comprise a sponge-like system of air chambers and tubes which acts as an air reservoir when the roots are submerged. The pneumatophores are covered with many lenticels which allow air but not water to enter the root.

Prop roots
Prop roots are adventitious support roots, which are common among mangroves. They grow down from lateral branches, branching in the soil. The plants that have these roots is easily identified by its tangled, reddish roots called "prop-roots". These roots have earned mangroves the title, "walking trees". This mangrove, in particular, appears to be standing or walking on the surface of the water. Rhizophora mangle grows on prop roots, which arch above the water level, giving stands of this tree the characteristic "mangrove" appearance. Unlike stilt roots, these roots are of uniform thickness and flexibility and will not root on reaching the ground. They, however, lend support to the tree. They are adventitious roots that develop on a trunk or lower branch that begin as aerial roots (another example; reaching for the water) but eventually grow into a substrate of some type; these roots in some cases seem to provide mechanical support, having either good compression or tensile properties to help support trees at their bases. In Bakau (Rhizophora species), branched, looping roots arise from the trunk and lower branches. Prop roots that are in Rhizophora species, Avicennia species and Acanthus ilicifolius are unbranched adventitious roots growing downwards from branches or the canopy to the bottom.

Plank roots
Plank roots are another kind of roots that is found in mangrove helps certain plants to breathe. They are usually found in wet areas. The trees are 3-8 m tall; buttresses long and snaking laterally; bark light brown, yellowish or greenish, smooth, flaking off. They have a special name, “Xylocarpus granatum”; the horizontal roots grow vertically upwards on the upper side for the entire length. They also curve in a snake like fashion so wavy, plank-like structures radiate outwards from the trunk base. The exposed vertical portions help in aeration and the widely spreading roots help improve anchorage in the unstable mud. Gas exchange and oxidation at the root surface may help to avoid contacts with the toxins. In mangroves it is made possible by the presence of oxygen flux at the spongy tissue with large air spaces found between the cells of the stems and leaves of aquatic plants (aerenchyma). The plank roots have massive roots that grow rapidly penetrating the peat substrates and form spreading anchor into it. Some older plants will likely have built big and strong buttresses to support the plants. So plank root is quite important to quite a lot of plants in the mangrove.

The above are the information of the four different types of roots. To date, there are more than these 4 species of roots. Some of these roots are undiscovered by humans. Maybe they are unnoticeable or unattractive but they will wait for us to find out more about them. Finally, through this report, we believe you had learnt more about the roots and hope all of you had enjoyed it.

its been long since i post.
school holidays are over. so sad. i wish that the holidays are longer but no, this will not happen. my school time table has changed. now i am having home economics. my teacher is ms leong. she is a little weird. today my form teacher ,ms cheng, told the class that my PW group did the best and we will be presenting again. this time is to the HODs. i was so relieved that time when PW presention ended but now i am terrified because there will be another presentation again. how i wish that i did badly and will not be the top three groups to present again.

i am having my exams now. left two days to go....tomorow will be art exam and fri will be DNT exam.

yesterday was april fools and my teacher tricked the whole class by saying that there is compo test. we all laughed really loud. my sis is now a prefect and she has lots of prefect friends so got one prefect tricked her.lol..................

Hallo!!!!
today is a day where i have to do all my hw.
i got one Damn stupid compo to write. and i have to do phrasebook.
ok i know thats not alot but the compo is damn diificult to write cause i dunno what to write.
and i have to do this stupid phrasebook that everyone in my class has to do. it is to write 5 words everyday(except weekends) that is helpful in your compo. my classmates don't do the phrasebook at all they only copy from the other classmates(including me) who did it.

yesterday's GB meeting was a disaster cause i had a stomach pain and i felt like vomitting. i could not play games. we also had drill practice in our own level. my comander(a different comander) is damn fierce. we kept doing the same action cause she say we do until very no good. after all the games and stuff, we had a session of 'learning how to wear our uniform' we have to how to tie our tie and wear lots of stuff. we have to wear our uniform next week so we have to learn. we also have enrollment next next week. so busy lor and we also ahve the drill competition in july, have exam in may. i hate my life...................

today is a very boring day.

oh yes, i want to tell you about yesterday. there was this group of boys (same sch as me) taking the same bus with my sis and i. they talked lots of crap which are funny. they had lots of comments abt the singapore game thingy and wat shitting stuff. very funny lor....then i realised that they were stopping at Grandlink to play arcade. oh ya, we had PW lesson today and it was boring cause we almost completed eveything. only left the ppt slide and the big big board that we have to make. my group is doing the ppt slide now. since i did the whole 1000 report by myself, i have decided not to do anything but to see my other group members do their job (ooooooo..i am so evil). but i know for sure that i will be the only one doing the project cause they always take their time to do it and it will be late by then cause we will hand up late.

today very tiring cause we went to Bedok Reservoir to have our crosscountry race. my sis came in the 99th place for c-girls and got this ugly collar pin. my house (blue house) got the second highest score for this race. i also walked two km with joyce. ha....the race is 4.3 km and i walked for almost half of the race. we got free milo but i only took one cup cause the queue very long and i don't like to queue.

it was fun in sch cause i had drill again. that andoria keep on bullying me (not bullying lah just playing). we march until like hell lor. very tiring.... i cannot do this step called....aya i forgot wat it is called...i look like a retarded person doing drill.

my bro's handwriting is getting worse and his teacher cannot read until have to mark everything wrong. lol........miss all of you..................:(

好久不见!!!
i have been busy. got lots of hw lah. today got GEO test and it sucks. the teacher gong gong one. and she say that if you don pass up your GEO file you have to go for remedial. my sis got pass up her file and then the gong gong teacher say that she never pass up. very gong one leh. last saturday all the SEC 1 GB girls went to Aunty grace de house. you might be asking who is aunty grace well i oso dunno but she come to my school every saturday to help us. it was fun at first but then it became boring.

my class got two new students. one boy one girl. the boy's name is Samuel and the girl's name is "i have not found out" haha. both are from china. ok lets not talk abt this. oh yes it is gonna be the holidays!!!! next week !!!! my sis is going back for drill during the holidays.talking abt drill, i had drill again yesterday and monday. it was tiring but fun. i am starting to like drill. lol....although my sis joined brownies in pri sch she now say she wanna quit GB because very tiring and she oso nominated for prefect so maybe she going to be prefect and she don't like it.

hiee....i have not posted for very long again. ok first lets talk abt today.

today we had GB , we played some games like 老鹰捉小鸡 and 老鼠和兔子(i think the name was this) it was kinda fun although you might think that we are childish and crazy. this is because we were very bored. i cannot get my fall-in right. i feel that i am very useless at that time. my sis so gd lorh ... she do very gd so is my classmate. they learn so fast i learn and kept getting everything wrong. okay maybe it is because my sis joind brownies in pri sch and i did not but i am trying really hard to correct it. we are having GB drill practice this monday and tuesday. i hope that i will do it corectly cause we are gonna hve internal drill competition ( i dunno wat is that but i know it is a competition and its abt drill) . you might ask wat is drill well i think drill is abt marching and stuff. really really hard to learn. they very strict one. you leg must be 90 degrees up . i feel like i am in an army and the comander is gonna scold us soon. lol.... you must be thinking that i am crazy.

okay lets not talk abt GB anymore. okay... i have lots of test during this whole week. my sis was sick on wednesday and it was so fun cause nobody is sitting beside me ( we sit together in class). I CAN PUT ALL MY BOOKS ON HER TABLE AND NO ONE CARES LOL...... but i have to bring lots of things back for her and she missed the GEO class that day. i can tell you that the GEO class is relly boring. 超级boring de. the teacher kept on saying things and the things kept on going into our mind and comes out like nobody's business. she also damn stupid one. cause we had GEO test a few weeks ago and because our class had lots of people transfering in and out, she still uses the old name list to record our marks down. we told her to ask our form teacher for the new name list and she said "nvm lah" like she is some kind of pro person. she very old de can 当 our 阿嬷 already. haha...... my classmate say that her husband died and she became gong gong one. lol..... i think it is real cause she is really gong gong one. we did clay stuff that day for art. it was fun but messy. too bad my sis did not come anyway she hated art for her whole life.

大家好!!!!! i nv posted for very long...when was the last post??? oh yes it was on chinese new year when i got to use the computer. haha...i got lots of angpows from all the visiting. i even got extra angpows than my brother cause it was my chinese birthday and my father's friend gave me an angpow, my grandma gave me an angpow. i got like dunno how much more then my bro. he was jealous cause i got more money. haha. my mother said that when on his birthday, she give him an angpow so that he will get more money (actually it was to save money on buying the present ha) and my vro said no cause he wanted both.

last saturday, we had GB meeting and the GMPS GB girls came to our school. it was a very special event cause it was a combined meeting. i felt so old at that point of time cause the little girls are so young. we went to give blessing to the hawkers at the hawker center. they did not accept our mandrin oranges and chased us away. one of them was very nice. we gave them the oranges and they wanted to give us angpows. but of course, we are nice ppl so we did not accept.

today we had lit test. i hate lit because it is in eng. my eng so 烂 thats why i don't like eng. chinese is better for me although the chinese teacher teach until so boring and kept talking abt when we are gonna write 作文 and 私涵 and talk abt we do not have any time to do them blah blah blah.....2morow we are gonna have chinese 课外 test. i hate tests and i am very sure that everyone does. well.....gonna go do my hw.

yeah!!!!! its my bday today!!!! guess wat???? i got a new handphone!!!! i am so so so happy!!!! i didn't expect my parents to give a new handphone for my bday. i thought they give me something else. my brother gave me a comic. today i had GB. i learnt all the marching and stuff. very difficult. i don't like it but i have to do it. well its going to be chinese new year. wish all of you HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR. don forget to get all those angpows. yeah i can go back to khs on wednesday. so bad lor....my sch release all of us at 9.35 am that means i can only watch the P1 & P2 celebrating the new year cause their celebration start at 9.30am i think i will be late cause i have to take MRT then take bus. well, see all of you on wednesday.

CL test is after chinese new year and i have another eng test after chinese new year. i hate that. my art teacher kept on asking us to draw lines and dots. i am sick of lines and dots. and she we can only use 3 colours to colour the lines and dots. crazy lah. today we had our inter-class decoration competion judging day. our class's theam is 'DREAMS ALIVE' all of us has no dreams. haha. my chinese teacher kept talking and talking ( as usual) and still nobody listens to her.we did chinese letter writing today. next week is chinese new year. hello!!!! i am back. okay, lets talk abt today. i had this cca fair thingy. and guess wat, my cca is GB or girls brigade. hope i didn't make the wrong choice cause if i did i will suffer for the whole of my sec sch life. my sis oso join GB. looks interesting lah actually. band was full house so is chinese dance. the MRL or librarian has only one girl who join. so sad. the comunity service club oso have none join. the teacher say we are all heartless. haha. i joined GB cause it is a niche-cca so it will help me in my Olevels thats wat they say lah. my mum oso want me to join GB cause its niche. i wanted to join band but its full house. that idiot Phillip got into band. i hate that. this saturday i have cca, well not exactly started but they say they let us try try 1st if you don like then you quit and join other stuff. well i am not gonna quit for sure. like that safer. if i quit later i don have cca then die le. what cca did you guys join ??? don quit if you join that cca cause very problemmatic one. my father say he once joined a cca and wanted to quit but cannot. he say my grandma go and talk oso cannot.so i suggest that you join a cca and don quit. haha i sound like a teacher. :D sorry lah..........

hello!! i so long never post le. well i have been busy with hw!!! lots of hw everyday. my science teacher gives hw everyday. i hate it. but i can cope lah. i made lots of new friends!!!! there is bot in my class called Elson. he very crazy de. on orentetion day , he lose in a game and he had to write his name with his butt.everyone laugh and laugh like crazy people. oh ya, Elson has a so called partner called Zhi jie. he oso very crazy. today we had to stay back in sch for a session of blogging stuff. we have to do blogging in sch. so cool. but of course we need to type it in proper English. my english so bad how to type in proper english. the person told us abt blogging and lots of nonsense cause most of us already know how to blog. so tiring lor, we had to stay back in school until 4.00pm and it rained heavily. so my sis and i had a hard time getting home.

i so long nv post!!! haha...i secretly use the com.....(don tell my mum) PSLE is round the corner, i am so scared. mrs lim say i can get 250....so high!!!!! but i think i can lah...must try lor. chi lishan say i nv post so i post now....chi lishan now you happy right? today my mum's friends come to my house, 2 ladies lah.....they brought their children along. one of them have a baby boy, he wa soooooooooo cute lor, the other one have a girl, she keep chasing my bro around the house. my gradma tease my bro say he got girlfriend...haha. oh ya...my sis fell down the stairs in school yeaterday. she hurt her butt and now she have problem walking. this morning she went to see the doctor and took x-ray. thank goodness she nv fracture her butt. i also went to see the doctor this morning. my leg lor, now i have to eat medicine. mrs lim keep on giving us lots of hw. i have to sleep very late to do them. yesterday the children day celebration was so funny lor. say wat mr low fell into the toilet boil, so when you sit on the toilet boil remember to buckle your seat belt. so funny lor. then they also created this advertisement abt the drink"anything" kai teng and i kept on fighting abt wat was the colour of the can. i said that "whatever" was yellow in colour ang "anything was grey in colour but kaiteng said it was the opposite. then we watch th ad angain and i was right. 哈哈......

yeah!!!!!!! the prelims are over but still got PSLE. today we celebrate teachers' day. the p5 and p6 pupils dance like ..... crazy people ....... they also sing lor ...... not nice one lah. yeah got no homework !!!!!!!

hieee, i watched the fireworks yesterday. it was so nice lor, when the fireworks started, everyone went " warhhhhhhh!!!!!!!" . the fireworks that was showcast yesterday night, was from china. there was all the chinese music. the sound of the fireworks sounded like the chairs are gonna break. thats wat my brother said. it was so nice until i have nth to say. oh ya abt the picture that i drew for my china buddy. here is the picture:

orals are over!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but still got prelim written next week (i think) ........... hate exams.i think i did pretty well today, only on the conversation part. the picture discription was horrible. i said so little, i think i gonna get very low marks for the picture discription. feel so sad. but it has pass oready and i can relax for a little while, oh ya i still got lots of homework. i need to draw a portrait of my teacher, i dunno who to draw. lots of maths homework...so sian.

2morrow we are gonna celebrate national day! the whole school will be filled with red! blood.... every where! seriously.. my red shirt suuuuuuuccckssss. i wore that sucking red shirt last year, its nth but red on it. it does not even have one picture on it except for the word GIORDANO on one of the sleeve. i am gonna look very ugly 2morow...........:(

juz like i said in the previous post... i did very badly for my oral. my chinese got 35/50 . i can do better! but i am too nevous..... my english.... i bet i got the lowest in class. i cried and cried. i can't sleep every night thinking abt the oral. but i am ok now . i am gonna practice and practice i still have PSLE oral. my mum said that if cannot do better this time there will be no more chance. but its true you know, no more chances.

hieeeeeeee...so fast going to have PSLE. time flies.......... wish i can go back to the past...nope i can't i've got big things to do. yesterday, there was this kitten on the walking path, it kept meowing non-stop. then it started chasing me, my sis & my bro. the three of us kept runing until that kitten stop. my grandma said that the kitten also followed 2 korean ladies. I HATE CATS!!!!!!!!
the china people left........ so sad, but i did not know why i did not cry on that day. i did cry on the day i had to leave my china friends. but not this time. some of my friends cried. :( but i will be sending a letter to my china friend soon.

hi ... sorry i so long never post. been busy lately.... you might want to ask what i am doing lately.STUDYING! of cause. oh ya the china people are coming next tuesday. i am a little excited although i do not have a buddy. i was so dissapointed at first but a least my sister has a buddy. lets not talk abt my sis's buddy ... she might scold me. anyway when 白老师 told us the names of those who has buddy ... i felt that i am very stupid so teacher don't want me to have a buddy but it did not turn out to be like that. Mr Ong spoke to the 5 girls who do not have buddy, actually there was 4 girls but one china girl decided not to come so it turn out to be 5 girls. it was so scary cos we were talking to the principal. here is what he told us:

"yesterday, there was a parent who said that they were very dissapointed that they cannot host a china person so i ask the 5 of you to come today to discuss......" said mr Ong . i forgot what he said after that but he did say that the 5 of us can join in the whatever celebration. he also said that at first he wanted to ask us to host the boys....OMG there is no way that i am going to host the boys. then he ask us wheather we got study hard for our PSLE . so sian............

anyway that is what he said. my mum almost ask the china boy to come to my house and stay. OMG .... thats for today byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

the school holidays are almost over .... so sad... but i did not have fun during my school holidays.... homework,homework,homework.... mrs lim still give us homework when we go to school today...sign.... lots of homework to do that i have not finish one single chinese homework. yet mrs lim gave us homework again. go to work even harder for the last week of the holiday. i have nothing to say so lets go back to the past:D

okay .. lets talk abt my brother's b'day...lets see... here is his birthday cake that i took on that day. its mango cake...ok i quite like fruits and i hardly eat mango so its fine with me....thank goodness he did not choose chocolate cake. chocolates are damn so sweet...ok maybe not dark chocolate but milk chocolate is definitely very very sweet. any way here is the picture:)
